Mustang GT Beats Camaro 2SS in Heated Street Race

By -

Through a trio of rolling runs, YouTuber’s Mustang GT goes undefeated in first-time highway battle against a Stock 2016 Camaro SS.

As far as the pony car wars go, there’s simply no beating the original (though everyone will try). Without the Mustang, there would be no Camaro or Challenger to compete against our beloved icon. And of course, competition means bigger, better, and badder Mustangs, starting with the Mustang GT.

YouTuber MotorTube, who is famous for his love of Dodge Challenger Hellcats, now owns a 2018 Mustang GT, one he enjoys racing on the highways of “Mexico” against all challengers. And today’s challenger is a white 2016 Camaro SS, a car he’s been wanting to throw down upon since acquiring his Mustang GT months ago.

Mustang GT vs Camaro SS

MotorTube says the Camaro SS is “one of the fastest cars” around, able to beat “Scat-Packs” and other cars thanks to its light weight and “good auto” transmission. Thus, it should be able to meet the challenge of his stock Mustang GT in a 40, 50, and 60 roll on the highway.

Mustang GT vs Camaro SS

After meeting up at a Rite Aid parking lot in “Mexico,” the Mustang GT and Camaro SS roll up on a non-descript highway for the 40-mph roll. Though the SS pulls away at the start, the GT catches up and takes the win by half a car. The 50-mph roll, meanwhile, results in a draw, while the GT scores the final win in the 60-mph roll by less than half a car.

MotorTube says he was “very, very, very impressed” by the competition, adding that he never took an SS on when he had a Scat-Pack Mopar in his fleet because the SS would destroy it in a roll. Not the Mustang GT, though, which took the SS like a champ. And while the rest of the video is focused on the SS matchup against his friend’s ATS-V, followed by a look at his lime green Challenger back home, we can only hope Mustang GT ownership does his soul some good.
