Mustang GT Features Real Horse-Hair Interior

Horse-Hair adorned custom fastback could set off a hot new trend among Mustang fans.

Of all the custom S550 Mustangs we’ve come across, it’s safe to say none have come close to this idea.

This 2015 Mustang GT has been totally upfitted inside with the hair from an actual horse. It certainly puts a different spin on the idea of a custom pony car.

As highlighted by Jalopnik, the project was done by the team at Vilner Beijing. Ironically, it seems to have been partly inspired by the car’s “European way of thinking,” as detailed in a Vilner press release.

The release goes on to praise many of the performance features of the Mustang GT, too, including its 442-horsepower V8 engine. But apparently the owner of the car wanted something a bit more unique when it came to the fastback’s interior. In fact, he specifically requested that they use leather from an actual horse.

“The owner wanted something rather more special,” reads the Vilner press release.

Well, they certainly pulled that off. Especially since, as far as we know, this is the only S550 that’s ever been customized with actual horse hair. Actually, we can’t recall ever hearing about any Mustang being upfitted with real-life materials from the car’s equine namesake.

Furthermore, Jalopnik speculates that this might very well be the first of a few more horse-haired Mustangs to come. Hey, given the kind of uniqueness it adds to the car’s interior, it certainly seems like there might be a market for it among diehard Mustang fans who really crave something that stands out from the crowd.

There’s no mention of what something like this costs, but we imagine it’s a lot more than your typical interior factory upgrade.
