Mustang Driver Charged With Murder in Fatal Street Race
The two people killed by a Mustang driver during a street race in Los Angeles last week should serve as another harsh reminder about the dangers of the illegal sport: the temptation to race can have dire consequences.
The incident happened when the driver, Henry Gevorgyan, allegedly lost control of the car and crashed into a crowd of pedestrians watching the race, as reported by CNN.com. The Mustang reportedly hit the curb and spun 180 degrees after hitting a berm and a utility pole before coming to rest on the sidewalk.
One spectator was pronounced dead at the scene, another died at the hospital, while a third was seriously inured and is in the hospital in stable condition.
Gevorgyan, a 21-year-old, turned himself into police Saturday after initially fleeing the scene. He was charged with murder Sunday for the fatal crash.
Police are still looking for the driver that Gevorgyan was racing. If you have any information, please contact the Los Angeles Police Department.
