This 1967 Mustang Desk Is Cooler Than Antarctica
The Austrians can get things very right, and in this case, furniture is the current subject. Yes, furniture. This desk, made from the trunk lid of a 1967 Mustang notchback, is a perfect example of what can be dreamed up from the artists at Unibro Design.
Taking a minimalist approach, this desk mirrors the design cues you’d see from other art-deco furniture of the era, with simple but angular multi-spoke legs. It is painted in the period correct Vintage Burgundy metallic red paint, with chrome “Mustang” lettering, just like the day it was new.
Taking a look at Unibro’s product listings, you may find this, and some of the other items marked as sold, but they can make another one upon request. Actually, I’d suggest taking a look through their entire catalog, as it is pretty much any gearhead’s dream to have Unibro’s furniture as a centerpiece. They have “new” trunk lid desks, patina trunk lid examples, air filter lamps, and more.
Aside from perhaps a work bench, when is the last time you heard of a gearhead getting excited over furniture?
