Vanilla Ice and his convertible Fox Body Mustang GT

Vanilla Ice reveals his recently restored Foxbody Convertible, as seen in the “Ice, Ice Baby” music video at Palm Beach cars and coffee event.

Nothing could be better than a Palm Beach day in a topless 5.0 Fox Body. At least, that seems to be the philosophy of one-hit-wonder turned reality TV Star Vanilla Ice.  Hop in the wayback machine to the 1989 music video for his hit Ice Ice Baby, and you’ll find this Fox Body GT Convertible. Who could forget the iconic line: “Rollin in my five-point oh with my ragtop down so my hair can flow?”

It seems Ice misses that lifestyle because the iconic Foxbody made a triumphant return at a Palm Beach Cars and Coffee event. CBS 12 news of Palm Beach caught a glimpse of this reborn beast, and we have to say, it looks pretty dang good. According to CBS 12, this restoration took four years to finish. In their walkaround video, it appears they didn’t miss a bolt or rivet in the process. Inside and out, it looks brand new.

Bringing Back the Good Old Days

“This is a nostalgic car that simulates pop culture as you know, a sign of times, the nineties had the neon colors, we had the Ninja Turtles, we had Beavis and Butthead, we got our movies at Blockbuster, we had cassette decks, and we had more bass than you can imagine in the backseat,” said Ice

The car features an appropriately over-the-top custom leather interior, featuring red diamond stitching on the inserts of the custom leather bucket seats, as well as what appears to be red Alcantara on the dash and door panels. Additionally, it has a pretty radical white steering wheel. It seems flipping houses on his DIY Network show The Vanilla Ice Project is treating him well. Additionally, a new show will debut later this year on The History Channel called Mystical Rides with Ice serving as the host.

Of course, a car like this wouldn’t be complete without vanity plates. “Go Ice” is about as appropriate you could get, we reckon.

Overall, it’s always nice to see a classic Mustang get some love. This restoration looks pretty thorough, too. We’re glad that Ice hung on to this beauty to enjoy more of that good Florida living.
