Throughout the Plains States in the U.S., tornadoes and golf ball-sized hail are fairly common occurrences. I often wonder why people still live in these areas, although I just moved to an earthquake prone zone myself. While many of the stories and articles that we normally showcase involving such destructive weather patterns usually end in tragedy for cars, this next story should make you proud to be a Mustang fan.

Last week, Simla, Colorado endured amazingly destructive tornadoes and baseball-sized hail that almost completely leveled their quaint town. It destroyed houses, buildings, stores, and schools. Thankfully, no one was injured, and shockingly, neither was this 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1.

According to AutoEvolution, the car was sitting in a shed behind the house when the tornado hit. The house, and shed were completely taken out by the destructive winds and hail, however, by some miracle of mother nature, the Mach 1 survived without a scratch. We don’t know how this could have happened, but it seems that Mother Nature has a passion for hotrods. Or maybe the Mach 1 just is too tough to be taken out by tornadoes?
