Hennessey Mustang Legend Edition

Hennessey Mustang Legend Edition pays tribute to Ford’s legendary Le Mans win with a special livery and power.

Hennessey Performance has long offered an array of ultra-powerful Ford Mustangs, F-150s, and Super Duty pickups. So the fact that the new Hennessey Mustang Legend Edition exists isn’t a huge surprise. Regardless, the Legend Edition is a bit different than most of the Texas-based tuner’s offerings, thanks to not only a massive infusion of power but also a very cool livery inspired by the 1966 Ford GT40 MkII driven to a historic Le Mans victory by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon.

That win, documented in the film Ford v Ferrari, broke the latter automaker’s stranglehold on endurance racing and was part of a legendary 1-2-3 finish for the Blue Oval. The Hennessey Mustang Legend Edition pays tribute to its forefather with a black paint job and white graphics, which includes the number 2 on the doors and hood.

Of course, bearing the look of a famous race car means that this Mustang must also receive a massive infusion of performance. Hennessey has certainly accomplished that thanks to the addition of a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger, air-to-water intercooler, upgraded fuel system, high-flow air induction, catback exhaust, and a dyno tune that helps the car’s 5.0-liter Coyote V8 pump out 808 horsepower and 677 pound-feet of torque.

That monumental output results in some seriously impressive performance figures as well – 0-60 comes in just 3.3 seconds, with the quarter-mile passing by in 10.7 seconds at 132 miles-per-hour. Keep your right foot planted, and the car will exceed 200 mph.

In addition to the performance goodies and special livery, the Legend Edition Mustang also sports a host of carbon fiber goodies from CarbonAero, including a front splitter, side sills, and rear spoiler with a Gurney lip. The car has been lowered and fitted with 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, as well as Brembo six-piston front brakes with 15.1-inch rotors. On the inside, embroidered headrests and a numbered plaque remind occupants that they’re riding in something special.

The Hennessey Mustang Legend Edition is certainly that, as the tuner is only building 50 examples of this special ride. As far as pricing goes, well, they haven’t disclosed that, so we’ll just have to assume that it isn’t cheap.
