Renowned Tuner Hellion Extracts 800 HP Out of the 2018 Mustang

By -

The bar has been set by Hellion for having built the most powerful 2018 Mustang that we know of.

It was only a matter of time. As soon as a new model comes out, someone has to get their hands on it and see exactly what they can squeeze out of it. Hellion has done exactly that with the 2018 Mustang GT, and put one of their turbo kits on it. Numbers matter, and this one makes 840 horsepower. And interestingly it does so on just 11 psi.

Lets not think of it as just taking the same tech as they had on the 2017 5.0 and slapping it on the new engine. That’s not at all the case, given the Gen 3 Coyote’s significant changes from last year’s model. Direct injection, higher compression, higher red-lines all play a part in a tune, so it’s impressive to see someone getting this much power out of the new 5.0 this soon.

Sadly, Hellion is holding their cards close and didn’t give any other details about the dyno pull you see here. We have no idea on the fuel it’s using, what state the tune is in, nor what they did to take advantage of direct injection. All we know is that it was done at 11 psi. To us, that means there’s room for far more boost.

Place your over/under bets on how long it takes for someone to get a 3rd Gen Coyote over 1,000 horsepower. Our bets are by the end of February.
