GT350R Carbon Fiber Wheels Carry a Hefty Price Tag
Opting for the new Shelby GT350R’s hyped carbon fiber wheels certainly won’t come cheap.
Nope, not at all.
Based on an order form posted on the forum Mustang6G, the wheels will cost almost an extra $30,000 on top of the GT350R’s starting cost, which is $61,370. But if you’re looking to get the best performance out of the car on the track it could be well worth it. After all, if you’ve had your mind set on buying one of the hottest Mustangs ever, it seems pretty silly to start cutting corners now.
The special wheels, developed in partnership with Carbon Revolution, are 15 pounds lighter than the traditional aluminum wheels, and Shelby says they’ll provide “unprecedented chassis performance, massive weight savings, and improved driving dynamics,” according to a World Car Fans report.
Translation, it’ll make the GT350R an even quicker beast on the track.
The wheels feature a ceramic coating that supposedly can handle extreme temperatures of a torching hot 900-degrees Celsius, which is probably far more than anything they’ll endure from most GT350R buyers.
Still, knowing what they’re capable of will be a big boost of confidence on the track.
