I had to build this crap up that this guy over cut, I have a couple of dips yet to fill... and grind down flat.

I've got everything as linear as you can get it. I even used the compass to perfectly align the panel holes. They had this configuration mounted 1/8" too high . I saw where to grind it in the contour of the bottom. None of this crap was going to line up. Maybe the reason he left everything on the inside unattached.

He had it tac welded to pull the panel in....... That was going to look like sh!t. I have to fill that in & that flimsy outer shell cant stand that heat. I may have to add a pc. Anything but tweak it.

Thanks to the pity the next guy body session, I'm whittl'n away. From here? I've set up a 4 point measurement. Striker to door opening (hole don't laugh) 46" & 3/16. I'm off by 2 16's-1/8'' that's the span of the total door opening. For the he other 3 points, I used the distance from plate to 1st screw hole - compass. The distance between 2 panel holes - compass & the distance between two seam lines - compass / off by 1/16" on the same seam that brings it away explaining the larger door opening.

It was easy to remove but working it is time consuming. I removed the paint where it seats and started trimming it down. I've also re-bent some of the shapes. He tweaked it to fit. Me I'm using a compass and numerous vice grips to hold it in place while trying to avoid any interruption to that outer shell

Of course I started by grinding down the tack welds and removing it.

I guess he planned on duct taping this one.

I'm certain he was dedicated to structural integrity since this is the part the heavy driver's side door is going to batter constantly.

You don't need a compass to compare sides, to see that the panel wasn't going to fit. Those holes are spaced about an 1" too far apart. Notice he even bent the top to fit. He was going to drill a new hole right through and ruin the panel along with it.

Quality Ford craftsmanship w/ paint still on it. I think he was trying to preserve the decal

He must have gave up trying to get it to fit inside and let it overlap to the outside.... starting with a blow hole on a perfect 3 dimensional shape.

Those are blow through tacs because he had to raise the freak'n heat range to burn through the paint. None of the multiple layers of paint were removed. Look at the Vangogh this craftsman created trying to duplicate the cuts.

1st off the idiot ruined a perfectly good body line for no reason. Run a die grinder over the edge, find the low spots and drill them out. Those are factory spot welds. He really botched this big time !

Oh boy, The reason I almost insulted the guy and walked away from this deal. He took it upon himself to fix this door jam. I almost opened my mouth, instead figured I'd remove it & fix it. The day has come.

This little 110 machine is worth it's weight in gold. It must be 40 years old and has been mounted on that typewriter stand for @ 30. I usually go with the next size bottle though.

I ended up putting a light inside while I filled holes. I used my small Miller set on 1 & a wet rag to keep it from warping. I even used my brass drift underneath to help the filling and heat distribution.

Someone who owned this car had a enemy at one time like the greedy chicken. The way this is etched in the metal and shows as if it was running down leaves me to believe someone poured acid on this qtr panel. I hope they got it on them self.

The left side wasn't a window leak, but a few holes in the roof that went all the way through. I have to fix this now before I put in the interior.

The picture doesn't do it justice, but it's cleaned up, along with a small weld repair (right side window leak at seam)

The kind of crap you don't see Chip Foose doing. This ol' window sealer leaves a black tar like mess.

everything under the headliner had the rusty scale thing going. A sanding disc on a 4 1/2 in grinder made light work off it. Ye I know I added more primer.

'm going Black n blue on this. Yes blue carpet, w black seats off set by grabber blue. The carpet came in Fri. so I'm trying to put some hrs in this on the dirty work so I can at least assemble the interior & install glass.

I'm not going original brown on brown. I'm goin' Grabber blue on blk. I have two sets of doors, 2 sets of fenders 71 & 73. 2 sets of bumpers n brackets 71 & 73. 2 sets or rear glass, windows trim, interiors, deck lids, side glass etc.

Trying to find all the sheet metal screws.I didn't disassemble this basket case. There's still one single prong connector blue w/ black line behind the gauges not connected. Logic is telling me it may be a ground. I noticed Ford Mustangs esp. 71-73 have very limited wiring diagrams.

Some @sshole Salesman at the Ford dealership conned someone into the ol' undercoating for an extra 200. Let that @sshole come and chisel this crap off.Go figure it was a Texas car.

It's been poorly stored. The windows leaked and it lingered in damp carpets. That's why all the glass is pulled. It came with floorboard replacements, however, it wasn't rusted in the traditional spots. I didn't use them. I just replaced the sections using templates & but welding in patches. I've got @ a week on the floors. They're done w/ another coat of paint.

t's not pretty but it's solid steel & will keep the original contours. The rest of the surface rust got the acid treatment.

If I didn't cut out a small pc of sheet metal, I'd use my trusty brass drift & hold it on the underside and start filling. The drift is non magnetic and wont stick to the weld, rather repel it.
