? Question to all the tuners out there...
I recently received my TCI 3000 Street Fighter Torque Converter from Summit...
Can I install it and use it for my daily driving before getting a tune for it? Any helpful info would be appreciated...
BTW, I'm having trouble getting hold a certain tuner (no names mentioned) that I know does this....which other reputable tuners out there can do a tune for a TC?

No tune is required for a converter but I will be working on one more specifically for one in the future that will work on some new shift scheduling to take better advantage of it.
If you were talking about me I got your first email at 6:15am this morning, did you send one someother time?
Thanks, Doug.

dougs right you don't need a tune for the converter but it can make a huge difference once it's done. my tuner was able to play with lockup schedules and pressures to really make mine come alive. he gained 73ft.lbs. of torque(rear wheel) at 3300rpm just by playing around with stuff on the dyno. it ran like a different car when i got it back. the race(trans function) tune from SCT is .15 slower than his custom tune. most of that time is lost in 60' and 330'. my advice is once it's in get the thing tuned to take advantage of the adjustability these cars have.

I'm not knocking your tuner or anything like this but a stall converter can make the numbers on the dyno off a good bit because of its higher stall speed. Once you are on the dyno and making a pull your converter should be fully locked, if not then you'll get the dreaded bump, so adjusting shift lock or converter locking features isn't going to raise your torque by that much.
You may have just had a converter spike upto the stall speed and then come down. On most high stall converter dyno runs I've seen there reallly isn't a Torque curve at all, the torque reading starts high and then just goes downwards in a slope. Now these are higher the 3500 rpm converters though so this maynot be the case with a 3000 stall.
thanks Doug.
thanks for the info, Doug....and no, I was not talking about you. Your service and tunes are the best! I'm going to get my TC installed in the meantime, but I'll be anxiously awaiting your upcoming TC tunes.
Thanks,
Rocky
