New PB at NYST (New York safety track) today. My 2nd time there, last time was 4 years ago!! Fun day!
1.37.7 was the best lap recorded. With the car as it is today, that lap was 9 (!!!) seconds faster than when I last wentbhere in stock form. The aero made a massive difference in the high speed turns 7 & 8. I was seeing 1.3 g's at 100+ into 7.
Put on the Bama "Race" tune too and I have to say it's awesome. Excellent throttle characteristics that helped all over, especially lift throttle to rotate.
The new suspension is amazing too. Very neutral and I'm able to correct quickly and get on the gas quickly.
You should do it. Swap in high temp brake fluid and go sign up. You'll have a new appreciation for the car and become a more capable driver over the course of a day. Just beware track time is addicting... you might end up with Hoosiers, roll cage, and giant wing like me
Nice video. Barber Motorsports Park and Talladega is near where I live, I sometimes fantasize about driving my 'stang there.
Videos like these just make me want to do it more...
I agree with DMichaels. That is literally all you need to do to get some track time. You can probably rent a helmet as well. A lot of his (DMichaels) videos are what got me into it. Plus some prodding from drivers at work. Take it slow and work your way up. It is amazing how much you will learn about your car and yourself when you are on the track. And it is amazing how when you get off the track and back on the streets how much other drivers SUCK!! They have no clue how to drive their cars.
So I say try it out. You will have fun and it is addicting. And expensive once you get past "testing the water".
