Cosworth, like the Cosworth, has just announced plans to open a $30 million plant in suburban Detroit to supply an unnamed manufacturer.
Cosworth CEO Hal Reisiger wouldn’t say who exactly they would be working with, but did say they manufacture “hi-performance road cars.”
According to Automotive News, Cosworth will produce V8 cylinder heads at a factory in Shelby Township, Michigan. The location was picked due to it’s “proximity to the customer base.”
Could Cosworth and Ford be getting back into bed together? Dearborn is just a bomb across I-96.
We know TVR will be using a version of the Mustang’s Coyote V8 tuned by Cosworth in their upcoming re-birth, but could Ford also be considering capitalizing on the partnership?
The Cosworth version of the 5.0 is reported to put out between 450 and 500 horses, making me think it could be the perfect powerplant for the 2018 Mustang Mach 1.
Your images in pics # 5 & # 6, appeal the most to me. I like that the rear has a bit of length (& therefore a balance) to the preferred, longer hood line (as compared to the concept car at the article's intro pic). Also, several Mustang identifiers are visible, which should satisfy enthusiasts. I don't like ultra short rears in most cars that aren't Cheetahs! Just seems wrong somehow. A road car should embody a balanced look, combined with functionality, for; purpose. Am just not getting that all performance cars that are NOT GM, should look like the Camaros, that to me, look like someone backed into a wall, then got p.o.'d & rammed the front into another wall. Just an ugly look & not necessary when designs are available that can really make a product. The Mustang does best when it stands alone, as THE MUSTANG! Thanks for the pics, great working ideas!
