Picks of your first mustang!!!!!

My Pop had two Mustangs. A 1966 when I was born and a 1967 a couple of years later. I always remembered the 1967. I am sitting on the hood of the 1966.
In 1976 a few years after my parents divorced, my Mom bought a red 1974 Mustang II which she had for a short while.
Sometime in 1978, Mom had to get another car after having to sell her 1976 Torino wagon due to a short separation from her 2nd husband. I helped her find this blue 1974 Mustang II with a V6. The used car dealer made a mistake and quoted Mom $1700 which was the price of a Pinto sitting next to the Mustang II on the lot. They honored the quoted price. I actually liked the car so much I was hoping I would end up with it in a couple of years. However Mom kept it for quite a while. It motivated me to find a Mustang II for myself. I decided I wanted a Cobra II because I liked the one on Charlie's Angels.
So here is my first car and first Mustang, a 1976 Mustang II Cobra II.
Sometime in 1980, I found this car sitting in a Buick used car lot for $1700.
It was a 302 V8 with an automatic. The first picture here is when I was 14 years old. I got the car before my driver's license and I had to wait a few months to get my restricted license at 15. This car was a little rough around the edges to be only four years old. I forgot what the mileage was when I got it but I am sure it was well over 100,000 mi. The front spoiler and quarter window louvers were completely missing. The Cobra snake emblem wheel center caps were missing as well.
In this picture you can see these vehicles parked inside the back of a building. My Pop leased this building for his business. This building was originally the downtown Ford dealer. That is my Pop's 1976 Econoline in the picture.
At some point I had the stripes over the top repainted because the old vinyl was cracking so badly. The original front bucket seats were ripped, so I found a nice set in a salvage yard to replace them.
In the pictures below I got on a black-out kick painting everything that was chrome and shiny with Krylon semi-gloss black paint. Yes even all the brushed aluminum on the dash and the inside door panels were painted as well.
I never did get center caps for my wheels but I do remember at some point painting the wheels white which was actually an option for those cars the last couple of years. Later I found a set of wheel covers which looked like the European styled road wheels that were found on then new 78 Fairmonts and 79 Mustangs.
I always remember the engine was hard to start in the mornings. I remember installing a manual choke to make it run and I always had to sit there for several minutes while the engine warmed up so I cold drive it without stalling.
At some point in 1983, I ordered a 1983 Camaro T-Top 4-cyl. base model with no options, 4-spd manual, no radio, no a/c. Yes, I was seduced by the sleeker low slung styling of the new Camaro and it's stealth looking fighter jet cockpit design. I did not even care that it was a 4-cyl. as long as I could have that new design. Back then you did not even need a/c. Before the Camaro was delivered, I was taking my younger brothers to school one day in the Cobra II and the oil light came on and the engine just quit. The Cobra II sat for quite a few weeks at home while I had to drive my Pop's Chevette Diesel. Eventually the Camaro I ordered came in and the Cobra II had to be towed to the dealer for a trade in. Ironically the Chevette Diesel stayed in the family with my brother as his daily driver up until 2000 when he sold it.
For years I kept having re-occurring dreams about that Cobra II. Something in me wanted that car back but I knew that was not going to happen. So I decided I wanted a new white Mustang. After I bought the new Mustang the dreams stop occurring.
The motivation for me getting a 2008 Mustang in white was because I wanted to duplicate the blue stripes over the top and on the rockers. I never followed through as I became quickly fond of the black rocker stripes that came with the Pony package.

My Grandfather bought this car new in 94, and basically its been down hill for me since. So I guess it can be considered my first.
And this was my actual first. Got its for christmas in 2003.

My 2000 Mustang V6, got it brand new when I was 16. Currently it has under 67,000 miles on the odometer.
I don't drive it much anymore ...
Here are my daily drivers, depending on the weather.

My first mustang is the one I've got now. 2006 GT, five speed. I bought it in February with 37xxx on the clock. It was a one owner car out of Florida. Its now pushing 415xx miles, and I've loved every minute of it!

My first love was the European Capri, the car inspired by the Mustang. I had several Mk3s, one of which I loved so much I bought it twice!
I don't have any photos of it, but it was identical to this one

This was my last one

However, as the Capri died in 1988 and Ford never saw fit to replace it (they tried with the Probe and the Cougar, but these never did it justice). So, for a while I enjoyed a Nissan 300zx (hence my Twin Turbo login name). Great car though it was, it lacked character.
This timing coincided with our second Nevada/California roadtrip back in 2004. The S197 had been launched, but Hertz didn't have any.....I think we missed them by a few months. I knew the S197 was the car I'd been waiting for, ever since the Capri's demise, but it'd be a few years before I could get my own.
That roadtrip though, was undertaken in an SN95 V6 'vert. Whilst my 300zx was a much more "capable" car, the Mustang had the character I need in a car. We really enjoyed it.
Then, a few years later, the S197 dream became a reality
