Took a pic of a black mound on my hardwood floors this morning on a wonderful 4th of July. My girlfriend thought they were coffee grinds I might have spilled. I didn't spill any. Anyone know what it is?

Mouse droppings. Aka, mouse crap.

Time to buy a mouse trap or two. Or a cat.

Looks like you got some mouses! I've never seen a clump of them together like that though. Usually they are individuals.

Right. I've seen chipmunk's do that in a close pile before. Bit too small for a packrat.

Hard to get a size reference, but I have seen roaches leave piles like that.

Called pest control. They say I have termites. Their estimate: $2150.00. Getting two more quotes. Chaps my hyde. Owning a home has its ups and downs... there goes a set of new rims, suspensions, etc. I was dreaming of getting for my stang before the end of the year.

Some crooked exterminator is feeding him a line of bull, those turds are as big as termites. That would be like me dropping a 200lb deuce, just ain't happening. That's rat chit.

Keep your $2300 and spend 10 bucks on some Victors and peanut butter, then go from there.

I believe termites are the size of carpenter ants. Like you said, they can't possibly chit as big as their own body.

I just googled termite droppings and it could be. The pics I see seem to have the droppings all together like he posted.

yes definately get a few more opinions .. i googled up termite droppings and all i saw were brown in color and were next to a hole where there was termite activity .. it`s not like they would travel out of their hole and go to the middle of your floor to take a dump .. look for a mice or two ...

Unfortunately, there was a small hole underneath this pile of termite s*it. Pest control guys say I'm lucky to catch it early. The colony is underneath the floor boards in the kitchen area only and not spread out all over the house. They say it could have cost twice as much. In any case, I got one quote and looking to get two more. I'll look at all three estimates and decide at that point. Either way, got to pay the piper to take care of the problem.
