Thanx Jimmy. Had a couple of nice 35's since the 70's. Started on a Pentax and ended with a Minolta. I like scenery shots so a 200 is always a must. I don't mind the film hassle that much but the dang batteries are getting hard to find and expensive.
So my simple little digital is inadequate except for basic stuff and its time to move up to a digi 35.

Bought the wife a Canon a couple years ago. Now we need a training class on how to set it up and use it correctly.

An easy way to start - assuming you want to play with the manual settings - is
1) the lowest Fstop=wide open aperature (lens opening)=close up in focus shots with background blurry.
2) the highest Fstop=very small aperature=distant objects in focus with close up blurry.

Then adjust your shutter speed to bring the light meter in line. 125 is a good place to start.

Play with settings in between Fstops for balanced focus. But your light meter has the final say.

Was that English Charlie? Lol jk

The canon just has too many settings. Regretting not going with Nikon because it's a little more user friendly. Have a few people that said they would show us how to set it when we have time. Yeah we have time. Lol

Think I am decent with the basics, just need more time to know what works best for different situations and how to capture the picture how I see it in my head. HAve to see if I can find some I am happy with and post them.

lol - I don't know what all the terms mean but I read a little pamphlet when I first started in 75 and that has stuck with me since. Then I did a lot of playing around with settings after that.

The auto settings are nice - once you figure them out (and try to remember them). But like anything else these days, just playing with buttons is how most of us learn. "Manual? I don't need no stinking manual".
And its not like it costs you film these days.
