People use cream cheese frosting around here. My sister also puts it in mashed potatoes.
I haven't had much red velvet, but it is good. Dunkin Donuts had red velvet munchkin samples that I had recently. Those were sooooo good!

It's actually good in potatoes. They tricked me last weekend and put it in but didn't tell me until after.

Some will substitute cream cheese.
We just use whole milk and a metric ton of real butter.
