I don't see as many around here the last few years as I used to. There would be tons of them swarming around at sundown eating bugs, now you only see a few.
I think that White Nose Syndrome might have something to do with it, they've found some that have it in caves in the region.

It's freaky when you ride your bike under it while they are flying out
I don't see as many around here the last few years as I used to. There would be tons of them swarming around at sundown eating bugs, now you only see a few.
I think that White Nose Syndrome might have something to do with it, they've found some that have it in caves in the region.
I love bats... I think they are cute.

I think I saw the bats in houston on amazing animal videos probably over ten years ago.

The lady from the sanctuary said this type of bat should be in hibernation and that the crazy weather is wreaking havoc causing them to wake up way too early.
You have to be a member of Bat Conservation International to go to the Bracken Cave. They have member nights so you can go see the bats emerge. They also have a special night where you stay all night and watch them come home to roost as well. I would love to do that.
