Thanks. The bamboo will go wild in the right type of environment. It would literally take over that whole end of the back yard pretty quickly. Its sprouting right now and just since I took those pics yesterday there are probably 30-40 new shoots coming up in about a 75 foot radius of that patch that are already 4-6 inches tall and as big around as your thumb. By the end of the week they'll be a foot tall and half as big around as a soda can if I don't mow down there. It must be that spring down there and all of the water in the ground that fuels their rapid growth. They'll keep doing that for about the next month and then quit until next spring.
Nice yard Lee. I've been thinking about the bamboo to help screen the trashy neighbors out. We planted a few leyland cypress trees but they are taking too long. I keep hoping that I'll run into Ahmed Hassan from Yard Crashers at Lowes or Home Depot one day so I can get a free backyard makeover
