I got my Federal back 1000.00 short. Boooooooo dam kid had to turn 17

 

I don't even want to see mine.

I have to wait on the s corps taxes to get done before I can do my personals.

 

I should get mine back this week on federal that is.

 

Won't your personals be fine with all those little tax breaks running around.

 

You would think so. But Uncle Sam prorates and then caps the child tax credit at a certain income. So they are mostly only deductions.

true dat! I've had a good pair of headphones for about 13-14 years now, and I love them, but the covering on the ear padding is flaking off.

 

Grrrrrr... My stock broker is not sending out 1099's until around March 15th so i'm stuck waiting to file!

 

My return is going to fix the driveway of the rental in CO. BOOOO! Guess I'll deduct it next year.

 

dennis, you should call and give him hell! I've got a number of tax returns that I've done where they got their 1099's at the end of Feb.

I doubt it would do any good. They were originally supposed to be by Feb 15th. Then they sent an email last week saying they wouldn't be going out and that they would be available on or before March 15th.

Don't they have to pay a penalty for being late?

I think its just employers that have the Jan 31 deadline. Investment companies have extra time for revisions.
My brokerage 1099 has been in Feb - with another final revision in Mar - for years. I own etf's and reit's and they often have to wait for the underlying companies in their portfolio's to do their books - which incl recharacterizing qual and non-qual divs vs cap gains. So the brokerage can't send me a final until they receive a final from the etf's and reit's.
If your holdings incl limited partnerships its even worse. I finally dumped my LP's in my cash account and only hold them in my IRA now so I don't have to wait so long.
I often have to get an extension but file as soon as I get the final info.
