My air filter fell off as I was driving down the highway last week and I broke down. Someone pulled over and helped me put it back on then I went to the Ford dealership for diagnostics and all my car needed was breaks and they said they tightened the air filter. Now it fell off again. Idk much about cars tbh this is my first car but how can I fix this? I was thinking of buying a new air filter. Can I use any air filter for my mustang or does it have to be a specific one?

That does not look stock to me in the picture, the air tube looks like it was hacked off at an odd angle.

 

definitely not stock, and does look like a hack job . . . a new one is a good idea

since it appears to be an aftermarket intake, the car probably has a tune to go with it . . . so the easiest thing would be to buy a new one of the exact same make and model

see if you can find any identifying label or markings; or post a wider photo that shows the whole thing from the end of the filter to the engine, and maybe someone here can identify what it is
