A couple weeks before my car got taken away I got another K & N filter. The regular filters at Pep Boy's were the wrong size (twice the size they should have been) and the only other option was the K & N.

Last tuesday the car got taken away and I thought "Forget this! I paid $50 for that filter, its going with me." I didn't really care at that point because the car was no longer mine.

My question is, what would happen to a car that doesn't have an air filter in it?

I'm getting a good size refund so I might try to get my car back if its not to late.

i think all the dirt thats in the air (dust, pebbles whatever, that gets under the hood will get put into the intake if the filter isnt there to block it. but i doubt anything large will get in, thats very unlikely. most likely it will be small m=amounts of dust n dirt in your engine.... still not good. but im not sure, one of the smarter car people on the forums should be able to tell you more accurate info. but this is what i think might happen

i think it will be ok as long as no one drives it. did they take it on a trailer?

whats goin on man is the airs goin thru the air filter then into ur engine w/o an air filter your gonna get a buncha junk dirt , particals, what have u, all through your motor..not to mention ur gas milage wont be too good either lol but that'd be least of your worrys i really dont recommend driving too far without an air filter

I made sure to tell the guy towing it that I took out my air filter. He thanked me for telling him. Sounded like he had wanted to go on a joy ride.

True, very true. I was hoping to get it back in chapter 13 bankruptcy. The car I'm driving right now is having to much trouble and I need a more reliable car.

Anyway, enough out of me. My Mustang is suppossed to be sold on the 12th. Doubt I'll get it by then.

in the intake piping there is a usually a screen where the air box bolts up to the piping so it wouldnt let too much dirt and crap in. u would be ok for a little while wouldnt be good to be driving a lot with it off
