Ford CEO Affirms: The V8 Mustang Isn't Going Anywhere

The Challenger was extinct for over 34 years until Ford came out with the retro styled S197 Mustang 19 years ago in 2005... 3 years later, Dodge reintroduced the Challenger for the 2008 model year... The Camaro was also dead for over 8 years until GM resurrected it back in 2010 thanks to the overwhelming success of the S197 Mustang... The reason, both GM and Mopar knew full well if they weren't able to compete with Ford, they would risk losing its performance-oriented customer base over to Ford, along with losing God knows how much money in sales revenue... At any rate, Mopar and GM will eventually bring back its V8 powered Challenger and Camaro, respectively, just as they did back in 2008 and 2010... As history does in fact repeat itself... But at least for the time being, we can all enjoy Ford and the Mustang as being the V8 lone wolf.

Well that is good news. Not knowing for sure about the V8 staying I ask the wife if she might want a new model, and she said not right now as she does enjoy her '18 convertible. Out of curiosity I decided to build one just for giggles. The '18 she has stickered at $53K (that was a hard pill to swallow for sure), and to replace it with a new one that has the same options it would be $57K and change. I nearly fell out of my chair. If Ford wants to attract younger customers that just ain't the way to do it.

....and older customers as well. That's what happened to us when we bought our '14 GT in August '22. We would have liked another new Mustang but our build was pushing $60k with a 2023 GT convertible. After buying the Challenger just 2 years prior, there was no way that was going to happen with a new Mustang. As it was, it took me a year of Social Security checks to pay back my wife for the '14. Today it seems like a bargain with it's still low 13,000 miles. That should be changing soon with upcoming road trips.
