Sorry but I don't buy it. They either got one with an issue, are severely overstating the story, or abused the hell out of the car. These cars haven't had any issues with automatics, even during heavy track times.

Relevent information from the *real* article:

While the Mustang passed a brake test at the police driving academy in Goulburn, the car’s automatic transmission, which is a requirement for police vehicles, overheated after just three minutes of intense driving.
That's... somewhat disturbing, actually. Fixable, I'm sure, and one wonders if it's just the one car... in which case, get them another one, Ford, and beef up the transmission cooling, problem solved.

If they fail for *ONE* car having an issue... good grief. That's ludicrous, and they simply didn't even want the car in the first place, sounds like.

But what do I care. It's Australia. Let 'em have the emissions dodging Volkswagens.

However, if it's 3 cars... now it's an issue that were I owning a '15-16 with an auto... I might be wondering how it's gonna hold up.

Dilemma for new Mustang owners. 6 speed Chinese trannys or overheating autos??? With stories like these I have no urgency about laying out $40k for a new GT/CS.

This is an article. In the real world where most people live ,there are no problems with the auto.Quite the contrary, they are used and abused with no issues. No overheating in the real world.I frequent several forums and all agree on the excellent performance and durability of the auto. **** a bunch of Aussie cops.

Being an old LEO I will say that if this car doesn't have the standard police package equipment, i.e. tranny coolers, heavy radiators, suspension upgrades it's a given any car under extreme police situations will fail. You just can't put a car built for civilian use to type of abuse, and expect it to stay together. And in a pursuit situation that has several drive/reverse/drive changes it's a fair bet the tranny will overheat.
