Mustang GT Fails Aussie Highway Patrol Testing

It seems like the Ford Mustang GT has failed to stand up to the rigors of police testing in Australia.

Business Insider Australia tells us the Aussies burned up the car’s automatic transmission after just three minutes of aggressive testing.

According to the report, “The car was then forced into a ‘limp home mode’ and taken to a local Ford dealership for repairs.”

While the Mustang did pass the Highway Patrol’s braking test, who wants a police car that prances after a fleeing vehicle like a stoned clydesdale after three minutes of pursuit?

Due to the Mustang’s failure, the Australian Highway Patrol will now test the VW Golf R Wagon and Volvo S60 Polestar to replace their existing fleet.

Obviously, the Aussies should have gone with the manual tranny. We in the states are simply shaking our heads in disappointment.
