I think the fuel gauge is crooked

Do you think the black saleens would fit on my 67 coupe with wheel adapters? Or would it have the same hitting problems as this vert?

It's not quite finished...not even permanently assembled yet. This was just to give an idea because I knew you guys would be screaming for more pics

I doubt it...you cannot compare this car, it has the full Griggs GR350 suspension with SN95 front spindles and the rear end is an 8.8 that we slightly narrowed with 9" housing ends. You are going to have to measure your '67 in detail and/or test fit wheels in order to get an absolute answer to that question.

Kinda funny that the car was originally equipped with 14" wheels and now the rotors alone are 14"

 

 

The car looks great. Even better in person. I am trying to make bi-weekly trips now just to see what all has been done before it's gone to SEMA. I know John is excited about the possibilities to drive it next spring. It's perfect weather now during the day to drive it.

 

Are the cutouts in the rear valance stock or did you widen them? If stock, where did you get the exhaust tips? Are they 2 1/2"? Car is looking killer!

 

No, we widened them about 1.5"....the tips are Magnaflow and are definitely too wide for the stock openings without modifying them.

I should also note that on the Driver side these tips had clearance issues with the fuel tank...so we moved the fuel tank over as well

I'm not crazy about the wheels in that color. I'll rarely say this, but I think gold with the polished rim would go great in this application

 

Sorry but I can't agree.... That would look so out of place...like a wart on the end of one's nose. The center of the wheels are brushed and the lips are polished...blends in with the rest of the car and what is done. The color is Blue...no hint of gold....pearl white stripes...no hint of gold there either. The only gold is in the Shelby emblems and not enough to justify it anywhere else. If the car were black with black interior I could see MAYBE how a gold wheel might fit in some views but not in this configuration.

While I love the wheel design, I've just never been a fan of that style wheel in light colors like silver/white etc. Still gonna be 1 FINE piece of work when all done

 

I think you really have to see this wheel up close to get the brushed effect...that picture doesn't even come close to doing it justice. I didn't want the whole wheel polished because I think it hurt the effect with too much reflection...I also didn't want it bright silver for the same reason...and dark colors just didn't seem to help set off the car. With the contrast between the dark blue and bright white and blue/white interior it needed to be more on the bright side but not too bright....kinda hard to describe but it's just what I saw working for this setup. Wheels are very important to setting off a car...a cheap wheel or one that just doesn't fit can cheapen and tarnish an otherwise awesome ride.

It's funny, neither Jason nor I are really artistic in the sense of drawing....we build things in our minds. I wish I could draw but that has never been a talent I have been able to master.

 

I do have to say that I'll have quite a few stories to tell after next week....parts that don't/didn't fit when they were supposed to, parts delays, trim delays....things that should not have been an issue normally but where in this case. One example is the chrome plater.....told me 2-3 weeks...ended up more than 3 months and I had to chase him constantly. Only when I blocked my number did I get him on the phone and then he lied to me about having shipped the parts.

Then there was the problem with the flush mount valve stems from Mr. Gasket....the rubber seals were too big to fit in the hole on the wheel...got a set of stems from NAPA that said they fit the exact same sizes on the package and those bushings/seals would work so we had to pirate those seals from the NAPA stems to work on the Mr. Gasket flush mount stems. All in all I had 4 plus hours of my time and 4 gallons of fuel wasted on just valve stems.

The Local NAPA has been a Godsend, the manager has come through more times than I can count...you just don't get this kind of service or parts knowledge from an Autozone or Advance Auto Parts store.

We are still working....Jason has been up for 45 hours straight with a mini 10 minute cat nap or two and I am on about 3 hours sleep...We will still have things to do when we get back. We will have to get some rest tonight and back at it very early.
