1971 Mustang 351c 2V carburetor upgrade suggestions

I'm looking to upgrade my Autolite carburetor. I'm looking for suggestions as to a good 2 barrel carburetor upgrade. This is a stock 1971 351c in a restored 1968 Mustang Coupe. Built as a fun street car.

Thanks for the replies.

On my 72 Torino, I opted to go with an Edelbock 4 barrel manifold and a 735CFM Vacuum secondary carb. Better pickup and nileage.

i dont know of any other 2 barrell maker but holley .. go ahead and upgrade to a 4 barrell intake and get an edelbrock 4 barrell carb .. they are trouble free and work perfect right out of the box .. a 500 or 650 cfm should fit the bill...

You have a 40 year old carb at this point look at what you can afford almost anything is an upgrade but the holly 2300 is a good 2 bbl carb had one on my 65 with 289

Is the rest of the engine stock? Are you planning on additional modifications if so. If you are shopping for a newer carburetor look for a 500 to 650 CFM. I believe the autolite carb that you have from the factory is a 500cfm. Holley's 2 barrel should bolt right in.

But like others have mentioned, swapping out to an aftermarket intake manifold will broaden out the torque/HP curve a little. This will provide a better pull at higher RPM.

The street avenger 570 to 670cfm should be pretty good if you are looking for great street performance and respectable gas mileage.
