"78" Mustang II/King Cobra
I've got a line on a 78 King Cobra. Anyone go any idea on the value on one? I know there were only ~5,000 of them made. The car looks to be in good shape with only 81K on the odometer, but with a recent re-paint throws up a flag or two.
Thoughts?

I say this as a II owner, because of the fact that its a II, you can get a pretty sweet deal on it.
How recent is the repaint?
Assuming its in good shape and not abused, I'd say a pristine one should run maybe $6Kish, depending on its pristine-ness. I saw a coupe go for $13K once, and I bought mine in pretty rough shape for $2300.
Post some pics and maybe I can give a more accurate figure, depending on the condition/options etc.
One things for sure though, its fun

If my memory serves correctly, 5318 King Cobras were produced, 1978 only. Talk to the owner and see if he has the quarter window louvers and original wheels. The louvers are reproduced, but the wheels and center caps are unique to the King Cobra. The wheels are a honeycomb design with twin pinstripes around the perimeter and the center cap has a cobra emblem. The t-tops are nice, did all Kings have these? How about the dash, does it have the brushed aluminum?
Not trying to hijack the thread, but I have a '78 V-8 coupe for sale. Check out this webpage, was asking $2750, but need to move some projects out to put money into others. I'll take $2000!!!, from anyone on TMS. Comes with a clear Alabama title. kennyg

Mmmmm T-tops ![Drool](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/drool.gif)
If the rest of it is as good as the exterior I'd go for it. In the intereste of saving you money though, I bet you could haggle him down another $500.
I'll be very jealous if you buy that :P

The tragic thing is that today $5000.00 is relativley cheap for any car that is in good decent conditioned. I bought a 83 Mercury Zephyr with 32,000 actual miles and no rust but a few dings for $2500 a year ago. I used to buy these cars 3 yrs old for $50 to $300.
