Lots of military bases down here, and we get quite a few fly over's from military planes.
We were on the pool deck today and I happened to glance up and there were a pair of fighters coming down the beach low, and fast. And I mean FAST, they were coming in hot and super low. They passed almost silently, but the sound was behind them. I'll have to look for some old pics so Erich can identify them for sure, but I think they were FA-18s.
They ripped by so fast and low that I couldn't point them out. A few seconds later that crackling, thundering sound from them showed up and shook the whole place.
The little guy didn't see them, but came running over and said "what's that sound daddy?" And I said, "that's the sound of freedom, son".

That's awesome! I got a little tear in my eye. Seriously. I'm not ****ing with you.
And the FA-18 would be the plane like the Blue Angels fly. Fixed wing. Long neck and twin tails. The Hornet.

And he got to spend an afternoon with the Blue Angels pilots a few years ago when we were down here. Made a huge impression on him. Good dudes, they were so nice to him, and he was so respectful to them.
Edit, found the pic. This was what ripped by here today, they were low, fast and cooking it in hot. I thought they were gonna skim the ocean they were so low, and not to mention hauling ****. They had the wick turned up on those babies. Awesome.

That may be two different planes, but the profile of what ripped by here earlier looked like the first pics.

the first pic is of two F15 Eagles, the second is an F22 Raptor, the last it looks like a F15 again

I could be wrong, I was pretty lit when they came by today and I know that the base where the Angles fly out of is not that far from here. All I know is that they were hauling ****. They were literally out of sight long before the sound ever hit us. It was a good lesson for him, and its funny that everyone on the pool deck and the beach clapped, cheered and raised their drinks when they came by. Thought that was awesome, always happens when they rip through.
