that wouldnt even be a thought I'd think, much less bring up!
depends on what you're looking for but there are much better choices than that car. If you can stand to lose a bit of mileage then a new focus could be a possibility, they can get some decent mileage, and they're pretty good for a smaller family.
Another option is a VW Jetta TDI, from what I hear it's possible for those to get 50+, especially if you can get one a few years older.
If she drives mostly stop and go and in town, then a hybrid would be a good option, but if it's alot of highway speed driving, the hybrids wont be that much of an advantage, since at >45mph they're running on gas anyway
Here's the deal.
My wife drives a lot for a living yet gets a modest mileage reimbursement. Both of our daily drivers are over 150,000 miles and the Taurus is on its 3rd transmission. We figure getting some sort of hybrid for her would make that mileage reimbursement pay off the most.
So out of the hybrids I've been researching, the Pruis gets the best mpg, and is the lowest cost...PLUS... its a hatch.. which is nice since we have two kids..
not looking to buy anything immediately, but as I look at it, the Pruis seems to be the smart buy...flame away.
..but maybe getting a slightly more expensive, less efficeint non-hatch would be worth not haveing to drive that POS smug tree hugger scum

Hey everyone, thanks for the well wishes for my friend. Hopefully he will be able to go home on Monday. It was great to see him in good spirits, wish my schedule was a little better and I could have made it over to see him sooner.
