Well I just got some bad news on the Bronc.
You have to pull the motor to change the oil pan gasket. So it looks like I get to pull my first motor and replace some gaskets. Woo-huh?

It seems that there is a piece of frame across the underside of the pan. And even with everything including exhaust and intake removed and jacking the motor up as high as you can, you still can't get it high enough to get the pan out. So as I am trying to save money on this vehicle, I'll be trying this myself. Any advice Arin and David. Disconnect battery, disconnect exhaust at manifolds, disconnect upper and lower radiator hoses, disconnect front motor mounts, disconnect transmission? I'm sure I have to dsiconnect fuel line somehow. What am I missing? Once I get it out what else should I do to it? Change rear main seal? Change valve cover gaskets? Pull the heads and check out the internals? Anyone have any good websites for explaining this stuff.

Couple things, a. disconnect negative battery terminal, and make sure you have no metal on you, electrical shocks from cars hurt like hell,
second make sure you pay attention on how everything comes apart, and dont force it; only pull off what you have to, if you can pull lines away instead of taking them off, do so. Go see if you can find one of those repair manuals, and if you take off the heads and all, you'll need a torque wrench and instructions on properly putting it all back together. I dont think you'll need to disconnect the tranny, if you are going to use a cherry picker, I'd jack it up, just enough to get the pan off, if you're going to do it like that, loosen the bolts first, so you're not wrenching on the engine while it's being held by the cherry picker. Inspect your gaskets, you may want to change them while you're at it. I'll do a little research on the matter and get back to you.
