2020? (Arriving in 2019) GT500

After the adm,.......which I bet will be on 90% or more of them on the showroom floors, it will be a 100K car. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm thinking this car is about 70-70K before adm. Hopefully I'm wrong. lol

I love how they're saying "700+" hp .... that's a nice way of Ford getting the customer base ready for a monster, in HP and price, when it does finally get released.
I expect it to be closer to 750 than 700, but I do not think it's gonna reach 800.
As far as the price, yeah, it's definitely gonna start in the $70k range.
The last GT500 was what, $67k loaded?
The new car is gonna have a lot more equipment, more power, more everything (hopefully less curb weight, lol)
And Ford's gonna fully take advantage of the fact that over 5 years will have passed from the last model to the new one, that inflation alone would have raised the price a few thousand.
And then there's the ADM's .... yeah, at least $90k for this car for the foreseeable future
In case some of you haven't seen this pic yet, by the way, Lethal Performance posted it yesterday ... it supposedly shows the new engine, a 5.2 V8 with a regular crankshaft and an inverted blower on top, possibly the new 2.65L TVS:

So it's pretty much going to have the 5.2L Voodoo currently in the Shelby GT350 minus the flat plane crankshaft but with a blower. My guess is if Ford comes out with an "R" version in which they more than likely will, I think it would be safe to assume that we'll see the 5.2L Voodoo as a twin turbo eco-boost capable of making up to 800+HP. In the meantime, very good find Gabe
If they do an "R" version, I doubt they'd go through the trouble of replacing the blower with turbos. There's a lot of R&D that goes into releasing an engine, a lot of certification and other red tape, I really doubt they'd do that for a car that would probably sell 1,000-2,000 units a year, at most.
More than likely they'd just do some more boost.
In the end it would probably be more cost-effective to build both versions of the GT500 engine with the same internals.
Kinda like building all cars with the same harness, whether they have foglights or not (something they've been doing for a LONG time)

Gabe, you're probably right about that and I totally agree. I suppose it was just wishful thinking on my part that Ford might take the twin turbo approach to the 5.2L Voodoo in order to either match or beat the Challenger Hellcat/Demon past the 800HP threshold and perhaps it might also be possible with more tuning, direct injection and a PD blower as well

Bought my 14 based on the looks of the 2015 MY Mustang, & lack of hp.
Not much has changed in 3+ MY's, so my excitement for the " next " GT500 just isn't there.
700+ hp just isn't what it used to be, & where the 14 is right now is plenty for the street.
Ford pricing + ADM's will price this car just out of the reach 95 % of the buying public.

I'm excited for the new GT500 and I'm not. It's been so long. I'm sure once I see it and get caught up in the hype, I'll be in love. lol
You can get a 2015-2017 727HP Mustang with warranty nowadays. With a 5.0 and not a 5.2, to boot. (There's a dealership that will build you a 800HP or 1,200 HP 2018 Mustang, if you want as well. Costly, but they will do it.)
SO, I'm hoping it's closer to the 800 HP mark. But we shall see.
Also, someone on the other Mustang forum mentioned something about the START/STOP feature. PLEASE DO NOT put that on a Mustang!!!! Especially the GT500 car.

Pretty sure the 670-hp '15-'17 packages retain some warranty (3/36 I think, through Roush, instead of the factory 5/60).
And also pretty sure the 727-hp packages lose all powertrain warranty, which is probably also the case with the new '18 package that Lebanon Ford is advertising.
I mean, do you really think Ford is gonna want to cover bills for engine damage caused by the two turbos that some dealership added to the car, plus the tune they loaded?
I don't think so, lol

I HIGHLY doubt that Lebanon Ford will warranty a TT or even a Phase 2 car as well. Whoever said that has no clue. lol That would be playing Russian Roulette with cash on Ford/the dealership. Not gonna happen.

I'm no engineer (not even close), but I remember reading in several places that Ford would not use forced induction of any kind for a production vehicle using the 5.2 Voodoo motor with the flat-plane-crank. Too much vibration. If they crank up the HP for an 'R' version, it will be with a traditional cross-plane crank...like this upcoming GT500.
