The Shelby GT350 Sounds Amazing, Even at Idle

The GT350’s flat-plane crank 5.2-liter V8 engine sounds great at idle, even with the active exhaust off. But when the active exhaust is flipped on, that's when the symphony really kicks in.

You certainly won’t find any shortage of Shelby GT350 fans here. But this kind of outside fanfare for the higher-performance Mustang variant has us drooling over the car yet again.

The roaring accolades, found in a recent Car Buzz report, tout the idling exhaust note of the new Shelby as sounding better than most cars. The post was actually inspired by the video clip below, showing off the car’s flat-plane-crank 5.2-liter V8 engine letting off a few revs with the active exhaust off. But when the active exhaust is flipped on, that’s when the symphony really kicks in.

Interestingly enough, the owner of the GT350 featured in the clip isn’t from Detroit, Los Angeles, or even Canada for that matter. He’s actually from Germany, which is yet another example of the S550 Mustang’s popularity in Europe and other places around the world.
