2016 SHELBY GT350R 7.32.19 NURBURGRING LAP
from the article:
Horsepower Kings claims the 2016 Shelby GT350R has recorded a staggering 7:32.19 lap time around the Nurburgring. If confirmed (and take this with a grain of salt), it will make the Shelby GT350R more than five seconds faster over the Camaro Z/28's 7:37.40 lap time.

In that video... sometimes it sounded seriously *bad **** when it was accelerating out of a turn.
Then... there's when it starts from a stop, and it sounds like a wheezy v6 or something.
So confused, sound wise, I am...
Looks awesome goin' round the track though!

The Z made its run on a wet track so it could potentially be faster, that said the only way to really settle things would be to run the Z and the R on the same day at the same time with two drivers of effectively the same skill level to minimize the differences in the run.
Hopefully somebody does a shootout with these two cars in the near future!

Oh I'm sure they'll have something up their sleeve and then Ford will counter right back just as they always do, that is until the horsepower wars finally come to an end..
So here's something more that GM isn't going to like.. " Ford began the horsepower wars and Ford will also end them "

I think this is more of a handling war, or "who can go deeper into a brake zone" war. I like this war. Straight up HP doesn't mean much if you can't put it to some good use after the apex.

The time for the Mustang is almost as good as I would expect from a Mustang that is lighter than the Z28 and has an engine with a broad torque curve and the capability of revving to 8200 RPM. The IRS would certainly help the Mustang bounce off the curbs without losing as much time as the Mustangs with the SRA. Just not very surprising the Mustang Shelby GT350 would be 5 seconds quicker than the Z28. The GT350R will be quicker yet.

Bottom line is that the R smokes the Z. 5 seconds on a track is a lifetime. Better conditions don't make up 5 seconds.
That being said, the Z is 5 yrs old. I can't wait to see what Chevy has up their sleeve to battle the R. Competition and car wars are awesome!

So Chevy knew the Z was capable of faster on a dry track but didn't wait a day to retest? It went ahead and released numbers that it knew wasn't it's best? And to this day they haven't tested again? Surely the ring has had some dry days over the last 5 yrs.
