wheels not centered after lowering ?

Thought this was only a problem with the older mustangs, but after I did the eibach springs noticed the wheels and tires on driver side protrude at least 1/2 outside fenders as the passenger side are tucked under the fenders. this is front and rear. It was so bad on front, that I had to change off set on the wheels I bought to avoid rubbing. Is there a correction? ir is this just good old Ford poor quality factory build? This is on my 2016 S550 GT convertible

Hello,

We have seen this on several cars & most likely the rear subframe is not bolted in the chassis correctly.

Our Steeda S550 Mustang IRS Subframe Alignment Kit (15-17 All) - See more at: http://www.steeda.com/steeda-s550-mu....qgTyzdEq.dpuf will help correct the issue along with an alignment afterwards.

Best Regards,

TJ

Ok, that explains the rear, but why the front too? after I lowered it the drivers side was so far out it rubbed on the fender, yet the passenger side was tucked under. this was after aligning and using the steeda camber plates front and rear

I had this same issue. The wheel on the driver's side stuck out more than the wheel on the passenger side. I installed the Steeda Subframe Alignment Kit, which consists of four Delrin tubes that slide into the subframe and center the bolts, and it completely resolved the issue.

Thank you for your feedback ... the front could still be misaligned after the alignment too.

Best Regards,

TJ

The 2013 S197 car had the solid rear axle which is centered by the panhard bar, and this movement off-center is a normal part of the suspension travel with the solid rear axle and panhard bar setup; so this is expected when you lower the car, and that's why there are adjustable panhard bars available to allow you to center the rear axle with the suspension at rest. The rear axle still travels in an arc as the suspension goes up and down, due to the panhard bar design.

The 2015+ cars have independent rear suspension, not the solid axle. Theoretically this should remain centered as the suspension travels up and down; the wheels travel in and out a little but it "should" be the same on both sides; so it was unexpected that lowering would cause this off-center thing. Apparently it was corrected with the subfame alignment kit.

TLDR: 2005-2014 S197 and 2015-2023 S550 are different
