manual transmission whine, clunk?

Anyone else getting gear whine, shushing sounds, or clunks? 2,500 miles on this one. Dealer says, "NORMAL".

I have the clunk probably about once or twice every time I drive it. Real low frequency like a subwoofer amp with a bad ground shutting off.

No whining though. Unless my wife is riding with me saying "slow down" lol.....

I only get the clunk when having to stay in 1st and 2nd for longer times do to stop and go bumper to bumper traffic. Otherwise everything is great.

Lol.

I get the whine in the tranny when I apply any pressure to the stick shift when it's in gear. i.e. Driving around in 3rd gear there will be no noise, but if I slight apply pressure to the shifter in any direction, there is noise.

I'll get a clunk putting it into first gear sometimes. Had the same noise with my 07, thought it was just part of the running gear.

You're not alone buddy, I actually work for Ford and have asked our transmission tech about this and like you stated, he said the same thing; normal operation. Hes dealt with that problem for the past couple model years with the mt82 tranny...He did tell me to check a couple of the bushings above the transmission to insure they are seated correctly... Otherwise i guess we are all coming to learn to just "love" the mt82 chinese junk... Kind of upsetting when you buy a 40k dollar car and have these sorta problems.... Drive it till she breaks and then start upgrading! Tremec is def. on the wish list for me

Tremec 3160 will be my upgrade eventually, if I still have this car.

6 years later models this is still pretty much the same story. 2021 GT Premium w/the Getrag. "Country of Origin" sticker from the window says "Engine: U.S., Transmission: U.S." but still pretty crappy oh well.

I bought a new one in 14, installed the Barton bracket and axle exchange driveshaft and that resolved the clunking and shifting issues. I agree you shouldn't have to spend money on a new car to fix the factory flaws

Not trying to sound like Mr. Complainy Pants, I do LOVE this car, it's awesome with a side of awesome. Just still slightly lacking in a few little areas you'd think would be tidied up completely this late in the design cycle, at least for this kind of money.
