GT350 RED START STOP BUTTON

Ford performance sells the GT350 Red start stop button as a separate part. They claim it will fit all Mustangs 2015 to 2018. The start stop button was revised for 2018. It is now two pieces the outer plastic ring and the metal center piece. My question is has anybody installed this red start stop button on their new 2018 Mustang?

Here's a video on American Muscle (a forum vendor) that shows an install. However, I don't think this goes for the '18. But, it may be the same procedure. If you have any question give them a call. They have some great customer service folks.

Thanks for the information. I understand how to install the button. I want to hear from someone that has installed this start stop button on their 2018 Mustang. A few vendors say it will fit. Ford performance lists the part for 2015-2018 Mustangs. As I said the 2018 button is different although that does not mean it will not fit.

I got you my friend. I've had the same question concerning other parts. I've even got one in the basement waiting on my '18 to arrive to see if they are correct, and will fit. I would think the start/stop button will fit as Ford didn't change the design of the center stack. Good luck.

I guess no one has tried the red button on a 2018 Mustang at least not on these Mustang forums. I have the stock button removed from my 2018 waiting for the GT350 red one. Will let you know if it will fit. Some vendors say no yet ford performance says yes. So much confusing information out there.

Answered my own question the GT350 red start stop button fits the 2018 Mustang perfectly. Install time less than 2 minutes if you are very careful and just take a pick and pry off the original button and snap on the new one. So if anyone would like to add this part to your 2018 Mustang it will fit. When do you expect delivery of your 2018 Mustang?

Happy to hear it worked my friend. Mine arrived at the dealer this morning, but of course they don't do PDI's on Saturday's. But that's OK. The fit and finish is at around 98%, but the hood is off center. I spoke with my sale guy, and he said they would take care of that. I look to pick it up Tuesday, and of course it's going to be raining. The bride (it's her car) ain't to happy about that.

I was thinking of adding this to my '18 as my 1st "mod" but after looking at the video it looked way more complicated then I wanted to deal with. Would you mind sharing what you did to install please?

This link should take you to the CJ PONY PARTS video to install the button in a very short time. As I did if you are very careful you can pry off the old button and install the new one without touching the console. The 2018 button is different than the 2015-2017 but the Gt350 red button will fit with no problem.

Thanks so it fits the 2018 without issue that's good to hear as I wanted to do this as my 1st mod but did not want to pull apart everything to make a small cosmetic change

I know it is not easy to remove sometimes. What year of Mustang do you have? I was able to remove the button on my 2018 without to much trouble. You may want to try again? It does seem like it may break but the plastic is pretty tough. Do you have the new GT350 start stop button already? On the 2018 the button is now made up of 2 pieces. It still snaps in the same way as the 2015-2017 button.

Yes a small pick works best. You need to pull on the backside of the button. Did you watch the cj pony parts video?
