Gear indicator 10sp auto

I have studied the owners manual with little success. My question is does the standard instrument cluster show what gear the 10sp auto is in?

To clarify sport shift mode. The shifter in sport mode or the sport plus in the selectable driving modes? Thank you.

If at any time, even when in normal mode you hit one of the paddle shifters, your car will be in manual mode and you will see the gear it is in. If you do not change gears manually, it will default back to auto mode and the gear indicator will go out. I do this when passing cars on the highway. I just hit the downshift paddle and boom, go for it instead of waiting for the transmission to downshift on it's own.

Mine constantly shows the current gear in all modes. Is there an option for it not to?

That will do it. I keep the shifter in "Sports" nearly all the time while driving in the city, and just let it change as it wishes.

I will never understand the people that design Mustang software. With the shifter in sport manual mode it will show what gear the trans is in with a small amber number near to the odometer. That is how it should work no matter what gear the shift lever is in or what drive mode has been selected.

I agree. I can turn the gear indicators on/off in my F-150. If Ford can do it there, one would thing they would do the in the Mustangs also.
