yea I dont really see the point.
the whole gear indicator is rice as said above.
although i wouldn't not mind a gearshift with illuminated numbers and pattern. i think it would be a nice little touch. not that i need to see it just would like kinda neat.

I thought about making my own, but never did b/c I couldn't figure out how to make a shift pattern to paint over. So when you removed the sticky shift pattern it would be clear. I even bought a used **** to try.
I'd like to see one where it shows what gear you are in, but does so using backlighting on the shift pattern. That would be cool to me. And it does offer some limited value...if you happen to forget what gear you are in, you can look down and find out. Of course, once you are well in tune with your car, you can probably tell just by where the shifter **** is spatially.

Not only that, but by rpm and speed you could tell what gear you're in. I actually kind of like it.
