Finally.........PPL2 picked up today
So I finally took possession of my Performance Package Level 2 car today. Of course it's raining and about 40 degrees so I was tip toeing around on the Sport Cup2 tires. It's amazing how little tread these things have. A coworker said he's bought junk yard tires with more tread! I'll be buying a wheel and tire set so I can drive until the snow flies. The problem is the limited choice in all season tires for the 305 cross section tires. I have a very limited impression of the car but here's what I have so far. The sound is amazing. I ordered it with the tuneable exhaust and I'm glad I did. The Sport Cup 2 tires are comical in the cold and rain. Very little traction. The digital dash is pretty neat and the seating is comfortable. I don't have the Recaros.
I'll have more impressions once I get to put some miles on the car. I ordered it on May 7th BTW. It was tough being patient.

Congrats! I think this is the best performance buy out there right now. If I was looking at a new one PPL2 seems like a must have to me. Only better option in a Mustang right now is a GT350. This is a whole lot easier on the wallet (Not much, but it is ). Got to be hard to beat!
As to your tires, you will find that most any sticky performance tire is going to have issues when the temps get around 45°/40° and below. That sticky rubber turns in to something similar to the hard plastic used for tires on kids toys (Like PowerWheels). Can be a bit scary if you are not ready for it. Best wishes and you definitely need to share lots of picture! Can't be too many of those!

Congrats and definitely want to see pictures.
I would not not worry about trying to maintain 305 width for the street. 275 is more than enough and much more reasonably priced in AS category.
Are you planning on getting a second set of wheels and tires? Those sport cups are expensive and I’d save them for the track.

Here's a shot from the day it arrived at the dealer. The front splitter hadn't been installed yet. I'll post some better pictures when the weather finally gets nice again.

There is just something about a gray Mustang! Looks sinister! Love the wheels!

Nice! I'm jelly . . .
I see you are in Massachusetts. Since you bought the PPL2, I assume that means you will be spending some time on the road track . . . hope to see you at Thompson or Palmer next year. In case you don't already know, SCCA tracknightinamerica has events at both tracks, several during the year.
I assume you are not planning to drive it in the snow this winter . . but even if no snow, a narrower set of wheels and tires would be good for the street, and allow you to save those awesome Sport Cups for the track.

I'm planning to try some autocross. Track days concern me as I would rather not put it into a wall. I have hundreds of laps at Loudon on a motorcycle. Wadding up a bike is a lot cheaper that doing the same to a car.
Definitely not driving in the winter. I have some SVE R350s on order with a set of Michelin all season tires for spring and fall. The tires are expensive but I only do 6-7K miles a year.
Thanks for all the compliments guys.

Wow, somebody finally gets a PP2 and it has to be at the end of the driving season, bummer.
I've heard the 305 Sport Cups don't track well for highway driving. It would interesting to get an opinion on this, and if it makes a difference with narrower tires.
Congratulations Blk12vert. I am jealous.

The 305's are only on the back, right? The front tires are the major source of tramlining . . . but they are something like 295, right? That'll do it too . . .

Guys,
These cars have 305s on all four corners. The car does tramline but I've experienced worse. It's not all that bad and seems to be at its worst around 45MPH on uneven back roads. Highway driving hasn't been an issue. I've pushed it a bit on on ramps and off ramps and the car corners absolutely flat. I don't dare push it too hard in these temperatures though.
I've got all season Michelins coming in 285 front and 325 on the rear. I'll let you know how the handling characteristics change.

Keep us informed how it does with the new tires.
