Clean the Rear Window ..... Really?

Check you local auto store. There is a device made for this. I have one and will post a photo if needed. It is triangle shaped and comes with two micro cloths, Works like a champ. The pointed end gets into the corners.

Although a pain to get to the lower part of the window, I have been using detail spray and microfiber towels for years on the inside and outside. I don't bother with glass cleaner at all....I figure if detail spray works on paint, which is porous it will work on glass...plus if you get any overspray, just wipe it off. No streaks, no lint...no problem. Matter of fact, after using it for awhile on the inside all you have to do for future cleaning is just wipe with a dry microfiber towel...as long as nothing has gotten on the inside of the window, it will wipe clean

I use ordinary dish soap and water. I never really get the absolute bottoms clean but I basically just ram a towel down there and drag it left and right a few times and hope for the best.

If you're having trouble getting down into the corners, especially on the rear window, I've used a tool similar to the one in the link below.

Are you sure it was the window cleaning that did in the rotator cuff or; well, you know?

I have a vert and the simplest and cheapest way to get the rear window (and even the front window) clean is to use the regular swiffer sweeper. It is thin, has a long/sturdy arm, the head of it is flat/soft (and you can connect your favorite microfiber towel to it) and the head rotates in all directions. You can get the corners, the bottom, etc.... Give it a try!

Best cleaning device = 3 year old daughter. She's tiny and WANTS to do it......for now.

This. I've tried Stoner's foam, spray and wand. Still have streaks. This weekend I tried the Chemical Guys VL7 on the windows as I was doing my spray detail - it worked amazing! I also have the CG GlassWorkz and still had streaks. With the VL7, no streaks and it buffs to an awesome shine, just as it does on the paint. It's not even that expensive when you consider it can be used on everything. Technically, it's a spray sealant/detailer, so it last pretty long too.

Definitely use a microfiber cloth (both the wet and dry cloths), it reduces streaks and cleans better.


Try not to over use the microfiber dry cloth. I have found that it can leave a billion of those microfibers on the glass that show up in the direct sunlight...

After all this talk about cleaning the window... It makes me wonder how my tint guy is going to tint the rear window....
