Ive had my 2015 Mustang gt for about 4 months now. Wanted to add a lil smack plus some more air flow to the engine. I was debating on what Intakes are best and also whether or not i need to tune it if install any of these intakes. Feedback is much appreciated considering my knowledge of all this isn't too big ha. Thank you!

I purchased the JLT and Tuner. I am very happy with the increased HP and Torq. It took my 2016 to about 472 at the crank. You can really feel the HP and Torq in the seat when you get into the throttle.

 

I've heard so many different things regarding intakes; if you're not tuning your car then they are not beneficial at all. Several people have told me to just do the k and n filter. This would let it breath better because the standard intake is already pretty good. Anyone chime in?

In our cold air intake dyno shoot-*out between Steeda, brand ‘R’ and brand ‘A,’ all of which have a restrictor in place without a tune, Steeda’s S550 ProFlow Cold Air Intake dominated the competition putting down 414 rwhp and 387 ft/lb tq! This is a 22 hp and 18 ft/lb tq gain over our stock baseline dyno pull:

Steeda CAI with restrictor and no tune: 414 rwhp and 387 ft/lb tq
Brand ‘R’ CAI with restrictor and no tune: 404 rwhp and 375 ft/lb tq
Brand ‘A’ CAI with restrictor and no tune: 403 rwhp and 373 ft/lb tq

Dyno sheet is located within the article - plenty of testing has been done & gains have been recorded.

If that is the only change, pretty nice, you will feel that difference.

 

The stock one is just as good as any of the aftermarket stuff out there. It just may not look as pretty.

 

I could do without all of the tubing and plumbing crap attached to the stock air intake just to pipe some intake sound into the interior. I'll be looking for an aftermarket intake.

 

I hate to ask this question at the risk of sounding quite stupid, but would adding something like the Steeda cold air intake VOID my new car warranty?
I am not talking about adding a tune. Just bolting it on with no tune.

 

Some will say it depends on the dealer. Of course you could put the stock unit back on for dealer servicing. A bit of a pain, but would probably work.

 

It is always best to ask your dealer about installing aftermarket parts .... we have a lot of Steeda friendly dealers out there.

It is best to read the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act to understand your rights. In short, just because you add an aftermarket part it does not automatically void your warranty. Only in the case of a failure from an aftermarket part & an investigation that confirms the aftermarket part caused the failure can a warranty denial take place - only on that part of the car, it wouldn't void your entire warranty.

Do you really need to change out the intake? Will you get good results by just doing the tune?

 

Yes, you will get good results from the tune ... but you will get even better results from the CAI & Tune.
