oil consuption

Has anyone heard about any oil consumption on the Eco? Got it new, 1/2 way between dots. Had oil changed at 500 miles w/ full synthetic at Ford dealer. Is at 1/2 way between dots.
Standard Ford filter & Ford Premium full synthetic. Is this normal?

I would like to know as well. Mine wasn't as bad as yours but i did the oil change myself with Mobil1 full synthetic extended 6 quarts with the bigger filter. Mine is also brand new 2018 with 4k miles. I did the oil change at 1000 miles and at 4000 miles i just happen to check the level and it was like 1/4 down between the dots. I will be adding a oil catch can this weekend and do another oil change and see what happens.

some shops shoot for halfway between the dots when they fill it, some shoot for the top dot . . . if it is not going down, there is no oil consumption . . . check it every few hundred miles to see if it is holding steady, or going down

did you check it when you did the oil change (after running the engine a bit) and was it at the top dot?

there is no guarantee that 6 quarts is going to fill it exactly to the top dot . . . I am not sure, but quite likely with the bigger filter, it will need a little more than 6 quarts to fill to the top dot . . . you have to run the engine a little, check it, and fill it up with more if needed . . . . . . check it over time to see if it is going down

Yes i did check after running the engine to make sure it was at the top. I definitely lost some in 3000 miles. I will keep an eye after i do the oil change this weekend. But doing some research, i did notice that a lot of people are seeing the oil consumption between oil changes and some say its normal for modern performance turbo engines.

Isn't it common to use some oil during break-in? I know in old school engines, 1000 miles/quart was common, but modern engines should use MUCH less. My '13 5.0 uses less than half a quart in 5000 miles, and it has 93K miles and is boosted.

Can't they make a better way to monitor your oil?

(oh, & don't fill the oil right to the top,
because the guy at Walmart won't change it,
& you will have to take your car to the auto auction to sneakily get rid of it)
...not that I did that with my Malibu or anything...

I got a misfire warning on my GT with only 8k miles on it. Took it in to ford and they informed me that the warning was the result of low oil. They told me that there’s an oil consumption issue. They gave me a free oil change and I was told to come back at 9k miles so they can check my oil. I told them i can check my own oil, thank you, don’t need to sit at the dealer for 3 hours. They said they’d like to monitor it and document it. Whatever. I checked my own oil at 9k and its a quart low. Called service an they insist i take it in for service instead of putting in a quart myself.
What does this mean? Hell if i know. Just want to say that this is a known issue that dealers were made aware of by ford.

Search on Google & see if anyone else has the same issues as you.
