Ford Mustang EcoBoost has fake engine soundtrack
Listen to a Fiat Abarth. Whatever else you might think about it, it does have a great exhaust note, quite deep and rich, not the usual buzzy four banger blatting.
In fairness, it's not a "fake engine sound" or a canned sound file that's played. Let's be clear what it actually is and what it isn't. According to Dave Perciak, Chief Mustang Engineer.... With the Ecoboost engine we have both active noise cancellation, and we also amplify the existing engine sound order. We don't create an artificial sound, we don't pluck one off the shelf, we bring in the real sound, process it, and play it through the car's speakers. Now that you have the facts......flame on.
What did we expect Ford to say?
"Hey Ford, what's with the fake a$$ engine sounds?"
"Oh that's not fake, that's the naturally amplified sound that has been processed and replayed over the stereo."
"That's what I just said."

lol No sir I'm not. I like the 15 GT aside from the front nose styling which I think ruins the look of the car regardless of which model. I like the V6. But I have no interest in a overpriced 4 banger with fake engine sound.
I really like that new Guards green color and I wish they had offered it on the 2014 car.

There is a guy in the Mustang club here that bought an 87 or 88 Mustang that was originally a 4 cylinder car and he restored it back to stock, 4 banger and all. I had to give him props because it looked brand new, he did a heck of a job and he enjoyed it.

I wouldn't mind all of this EB4 stuff if the car has lost weight
What's the freaking point anymore. This car should be 400 pounds lighter and about 5% smaller and everything would be fine. Now it's like a Challenger with a turbocharged lawn mower engine minus the good looks.

im not trying. If I was it would be clear and no doubt would be left. I do not mean to offend.. I am a grown adult and see though the internet games.
I am simply trying to say its not going to be slow and awful. You are the one arguing without any experience. Give it a chance. The 2.3EB is getting great track reviews while the GT is getting mixed reviews.

I don't recall saying the ecoboost will be slow. Even though I'm not a fan of the car I am looking forward to a head to head comp with the FR-S just so the Toyota fanboys can see that in fact you can sell a 4 cylinder turbo charged sports coupe for less than 30 grand.
What I'm not a fan of is that Ford felt the need to create fake engine sound in the cabin. I'm not a fan of the front end on the 2015 at all and I'm just discussing those aspects. I do like that the car is now IRS. I like the new interior and I love the Guards green color. I'm a big fan of the 5.0 coyote motor even though I wouldn't drive one day to day and I think the 3.7 V6 is a fantastic engine. I wouldn't mind being a fan of the ecoboost except that it basically just delivers V6 levels of performance and V6 levels of mpg for more money. I don't like false hype and mostly that is what Ford has generated with the ecoboost. They should have been upfront about it and admitted that customers could expect basically V6 performance and mpg and then I wouldn't have nearly the issue with it that I do. So you see my beef with the car is not about you or anyone else on this forum but instead about Ford and how they have over hyped it.
keep in mind I wasn't talking just to you.. two or three people were talking at the point in the thread and I was making statements that applied to a few posts. I did not take kindly to some one saying "focus owner".. Like they were talking down to me.
Also keep in mind ford is only doing the whole Ecoboost thing because of the Café standards the epa have put out.

With respect to the whole CAFE standards issue, I could see that if the car actually got better mpg but it doesn't. It's getting pretty much V6 mpg and that's not going to help their CAFE standards much.
I'm not going to get into the whole "focus owner" thing because frankly I think you should drive whatever you want to drive. I had a 2012 Focus and hated it because the dual clutch crapmatic transmission was pure garbage. But that's another forum.

The 2012 you had has little in common with a 2013+ ST. I have owned the nicer V8 version of the mustang and the nicer ST version of the focus. My wife drives a 2013 focus with the auto in it and I can tell you from driving them both today that the ST is closer to a mustang GT then a focus SES.

café standards are not simply about mpg. read up on it. they put the emissions on the sticker for a reason. people do not simply look at mpg. today a lot of younger buyers look at the emission/carbon rating. The EB motors crush the v6 mustang. My ST's 2.0EB has a better carbon rating then my wife's n/a 2.0 in her focus.
2. Ford never hyped the carbon emissions of the ecoboost Mustang, they hyped the miles per gallon, which turned out to be nothing special.
3. If you are buying a sports car and worried about carbon emission I think maybe you just don't get it. Those people should probably be looking at a Focus EV or a Prius.
The mustang is not a sports car. The mustang is a pony car. Even if the mustang was a sports car the 2.3 and the 3.7 would not in the sporty area of the line up. Instead those two engines would be in the economy area of the line up.

The Mustang has always been a "pony car" but I have read articles where Ford wants it to break out of that mold and become a true Sports coupe. The IRS and increased levels of refinement in this generation clearly bear that out. I have no problem with this and I also don't see how the 4 and 6 cylinder engines are economy in anyway. They have very good horsepower numbers and are each a little lighter than the V8 so it seems to provide the car with slightly better handling characteristics than the V8 GT. Again I think that's okay as you want to appeal to the tuner crowd who currently buy imports. I feel anything that will allow the Mustang to gain in popularity and gain new customers is a good thing and I don't feel the car is straying too far from it's roots. It will still have the DNA and yes it is still an affordable vehicle for the masses. That's always been the beauty of this car. You can but the smaller engine and build it up with go fast parts and better suspension components to allow it to take on cars costing much much more. This new generation gives us so much more to start off with so they can already compete with cars costing more money. Hopping up the Ecoboost or V6 will give an owner the chance to even make their car faster and better than a stock GT. I can't wait to see comparison tests with the FRS/BRZ or the Genesis coupe or BMW 2 series and any other cars in this class that I may be forgetting ( I haven't had my coffee yet lol).
It's not a pony car anymore. it is a sports car now.
