It's been a long time since I've seen a new car without an engine cover. You are really limiting yourself if that's a deal breaker for you.

So removing it is out of the realm of your technical know-how?
No need to be all 'trolly'

Cool

I would rather have the engineers place components in a clean orderly manner on the engine so an engine cover is not required. What function does an engine cover do beside try to hide an eyesore ? Currently I do not own any Mustangs with engine covers.

It's a styling piece in some people's eyes. That is function enough...

I bought a engine cover- think its cool looking...although its hanging on the wall with some other mustang decor downstairs, not trapping heat on my 4.6

It is cool looking! However, since it sits on top of a plastic intake manifold, which should not get that hot, I think it still would be OK on your car's engine

I honestly am gonna miss it, assuming my 2010 gets traded in for the GT with the Battlestar Galactica engine cover.

I agree but in the case of a DI engine the cover has a purpose, the least of which is to keep people from endlessly coming back and complaining about a loud ticking noise.

Question

How do you know the engine makes a loud ticking noise ? Do you have some inside info ? I think Ford should only offer the engine cover as an option. Then we would find out who really wants a cover. Of course , there are some who buy every option they can .

Direct Injection engines have very high powered injectors that make a loud clicking noise. My Mazda CX-7 almost sounded like a diesel from outside (you didn't hear it in the cabin). Its definitely much lest noticeable with my ST though, so Ford appears to be making an effort to cover up the sound.

Cool

I would think Ford would use some kind of noise cancellation to counter the sound of the DI injectors. If DI injectors are that loud, I hope the 5.0 does not get them for years. I am an engine guy and appreciate the sight of an engine in the car when the hood is open. Why cover an engine up with a cover as if someone is covering a corpse so no one can see it.

Oddly enough, many people seem to positively acknowledge the current 5.0 cover, even going so far as to spend money to color customize it. I would expect there will be those who do the same for the EcoBoost cover as well.

I must admit, Ford did a nice job of making the 5.0 engine cover look good. It only partially covers the engine. I would not want an engine cover like the German cars and Camaro have on their engines. The engine cover shown on the Turbo four engine on the 2015 Mustang virtually covers the engine. Maybe a see thru engine cover might be something I could live with.

I enjoy the sight of an engine too, but what about this: EcoBoost engine photos!-image-3501873036.jpg An new edge's 3.8 v6, now that needs a cover

Starting to sound like something out of Tokyo Drift...

From my understanding... this is not a final rendering. Plus, many engine covers are there to hide unsightly wires and keep them from getting water and debris blown all over them.

However, I do agree with you that a well... decorated "engine" is all you need (as far as asthetics go) but that's like being the only person at Outback who think's A1 sauce is useless. Others may agree but most do not.

LOL, so true...my new Ford Escape 2.0L Titanium sounds like a diesel upon startup.
