convertible boot - GT/CS
convertible boot - GT/CS
Can any tell me if a convertible boot comes standard with the 2014 GT/CS. The dealer is telling me it comes with the GT but not the GT/CS. Why would Ford delete it with the CS package?

If you want to see all the features, go into "build your own" and change '15' to '14' in the URL and it'll let you build a 2014 Mustang.
The boot is standard on the GT Premium....I have one. The California Special includes all the standard features found on the GT Premium including the boot. This is according to the Ford.com website.

TripleBlack14 is right on this one, the website and the 2014 brochure says its standard with the GT Premium, so as I see it, it should be standard with the CS package. Why delete it? I think I need to contact Ford about this one.

Just called Ford customer service and though it clearly shows on their website and brochure (see attached pics) that the convertible boot is included with the GT, they are saying it doesn't. The robot on the phone reading off the script just kept telling me to talk to the dealer, but the dealer said no. So much for customer service.

As Tripleblack14 mentioned, all 2014 Mustang Convertible GTs with the Premium array come with the convertible boot cover standard. I also checked on yours in specific and it came with it. Be sure to stay in contact with your CSM until this has been resolved and keep me posted.

Just heard from the CSM, they confirmed it does come with the car, but said this was a sales issue and they cannot "force" the dealer to give me the cover. Instead they offered me the 5 year/75000 mile premiumcare extended warranty in lieu of the cover which I gladly accepted. I am happy with the outcome. I will continue to buy Ford products as I have for most of my life, just not from that dealer. Their willingness to lose a long time customer(purchased 3 cars from them) over a $300 cover on a $45K car is mind boggling.
Thank Deysha for your help.

It's great that this has been resolved to your satisfaction, but the dealer gets off the hook and he continues his unethcal, if not illegal practices.
How many others have been stiffed by this dealer or another in a similar situation? The real issue here in my opinion is the unscrupulous action of your dealer.
What gives him the right to withhold a part for which you've paid as part of the package? What's the difference if he decided to not let you have the spare tire? That's part of the car too, isn't it?
It it were me, I'd file a small claims action against the dealer. You have correspondece from Ford, sales brochures, and proof from Ford's website. Filing a claim costs you nothing but your time. It will cost the dealer legal fees to defend. A letter to the BBB and revealing the name of the dealer here and on other sources will get the word out. A little note on his Facebook page wouldn't hurt either.
This kind of crap infuriates me.

Things like this infuriate me too, that’s why I refused to let it go. Well the story didn’t end there. Shortly after hearing from Ford with the offer of the extended warrantee, I decided to send an email to the salesman and Customer Care manager just to let them know what Ford had said and that they has lost a long time customer over a $160 convertible boot. Oh and I cc’ed the owner and President of the dealership. Within hours I received a reply from the owner who apologized and claimed he was totally unaware of the situation and that he would look into it and get back to me. I must have ignited a sh*t storm at the dealership because soon I was contacted by both the owner and the Service Manager both who repeatedly apologized for how the staff handled this situation and practically begged me to give their dealership a chance to make it right. I was told the boot was ordered and I would receive it soon. The Service Manager said from now on she would personally handle all service issues with my car and I should call her directly. The owner also offered me a free maintenance package and a complete detailing of my car. So let’s recap, since the salesman refused to give me an $160 item which I paid for, I was given instead a $1500 extended warrantee, free maintenance, a complete detailing of my car and on top of all that, the convertible boot which I should have received in the first place. So in the end it worked out pretty good for me. I guess I have to give the owner the benefit of the doubt the he was unaware of this debacle. I would hate to be the salesman and customer care manager come bonus time.
That's great news Joseph.
I've always believed an person/business shouldn't be judged by the mistakes that are made, but how well they are resolved. Unfortunately you had to make threats, but at least the dealer finally stepped up.
This also demonstrates how important customer surveys are to Ford dealers. They live and die by them.
I'm in north Jersey too...just out of curiosty can you say at least the town the dealer is located in?

wow that is a good example of why it doesn't make sense to get petty over a small thing when dealing with a customer. It can so easily come back to bite you in a$$. Good for you, and I'm happy to see the dealer making it right. They probably also realize that with the power of social media such as forums and facebook etc, little things can quickly snowball!

Funny thing about this whole issue is, I most likely will never use the boot, I may sell it on EBay. It was just the principle of it all. I still have the boot from my 07, I wonder if that fits the 2014?
Speaking of customer surveys, I bought the car the beginning of September and haven’t received the survey yet, how long does it take to get it?
I live in Clark, the dealer is nearby.
I got a preliminary survey immediately, then a longer one a few weeks later. I bought my Mustang in Stroudsburg, Pa. after leasing my last four cars from them previously, as well as sending them a couple of cash deals. I found them by accident after a negative experience trying to lease a car from a very large Ford dealer in my area. They're an hour a way, but I don't consider them out of the way.
My current dealer treats me very well with a decidedly non-Jersey attitude and they always get glowing feedback. It's a two way street.
