What tire size(s) to use on 17"x9" 03 Cobra wheels on my Foxbody?

Hello,

Apologies if this has been covered before, but I just picked up my 88 Coupe about 10 days ago. It has a bunch of Maximum Motorsports suspension/stiffening under it, as well as H&R lowering springs, Bilstein shocks/struts and Eibach sway bars. I'm planning on upgrading to coilovers up front and buying Maximum Motorsports front LCA's and rear HD LCA's, as my 17x9 +26mm OS, 6.02 inch BS wheels are hitting the OEM LCA's at full lock. Josh @ Maximum Motorsports said I should run 275/40 tires on all 4 corners??? I do realize I will need to roll my rear fender lips for something that wide in the rear, but is that size needed in the front as well? I was hoping more of a staggered, slightly narrower front tire would look nice on it, along with the wider tire in the rear? Car will never be drag/street raced! It's going to be my "soon to be" retirement hot rod, that's mostly going to be used as a weekend cruiser/Cars & Coffee events. So, I was just asking what most of yall run on your Fox body cars?

This is what my Coupe currently looks like, with 215/55 Front, 225/50 Rear:

You edited your reply, KC...?

Did you see the BS/OS numbers I posted? I'm beginning to think you're the only person that comments on this forum, LOL!

Are you planning to replace the wheels and tires, or just the tires?

You can check tires on Tire Rack; look up the size you are interested in; then check the "specs" tab to find the recommended wheel rim width range for that tire size. I'm pretty sure a 275 tire should have a 9.5" wheel minimum, though 9" might be on the extreme low end of the range.

I ran 95 chrome Cobra R (real, not aftermarket) on one of my Foxes and I ran 275 40s. Had to roll the rear fender lips, but it had a mid nineties 5 lug disc rear which was a little wider.

Just the tires, nothing wrong with the wheels. According to MM, a 275 is fine on a 17x9? I know how to search wheel & tire sizes online, I'm just asking what most of yall run? I assumed a 275/40 was too wide for the front end?

Yes, I plan on rolling rear lip, as mentioned above and yes, I also have a 94+ rear axle, so mine's the same as yours.
