Great Wheel/Tire Combo

I recently purchased (out of necessity) a set of new wheels and tires for my NEW Track Pack 2014 GT. I got the GT500 Brake Kit after Ford Racing said the Track Pack wheels fit...then they didn't.

At any rate, I bought O.Z.'s Superturismo LM wheels in 9.5x19 with Michelin Pilot Super Sports in 265/40. I have to tell you, I think this is one gorgeous set, but I know that's subjective. I will also note that the tire size is the GT500 OE size, and they are "extra load" tires, so you can really lean on them as hard as you like on the track. The wheels, although listed as "rear fitment" worked perfectly on the front. They cleared the big six piston calipers, fender, strut, and fender well just fine...even at full lock. The tires grip very, very well too.

Here's the big data point, I weighed my OE Track Pack wheel and got 56lbs. I then weight my new, bigger wheel, and bigger tire and got 47lbs.!!!! Yes, 9 freaking pounds lighter per wheel; I checked it twice. I got bigger, lighter, and more grip at the same time. Okay, yes, they ain't cheap. With TMS it totaled about $3500 at TireRack (where else?). Yes, I know, a huge string attached there, but if you're looking for a true upgrade, this is one for sure. While we'd all love a custom set of Forgelines, this is the next best thing.

Thanks for the info. Picking out tires and wheels is one of the toughest things to do.

Great set of wheels and tires. Very motorsport oriented indeed. If you like to really "drive" your car and not just look good then it's hard to beat a good fitting wheel and sticky tire combo that frees up some weight. Why did you go 265 instead of 275?

Thanks for the feedback. I love the LM style wheel but was hoping it was not too "Euro" for a Mustang. I dig euro sportscars, but a Mustang aint euro, thats all.

No good reason for not going 275s. I just picked the GT500 track pack OE size up front, then put them on all four corners. I think, however, 275s would fit just fine after having my hands up in the tire and strut. I didnt want to risk the fitment, I guess. I love the weights of the tire and wheel, and that the tire has such a high load rating. I never really looked at the 275s but probably should have.

Here are some rims in 19 available in any custom offset.
Great quality as well and will clear Brembos.
Im getting a set soon of either the GF6 or 8 with some R888 Toyos

I just put the 275's that I bought on the Brembo wheels and they fit fine and actually look better since I got 40's.

Bummer the 6 pistons don't fit under the track pack wheels. I like your choice, sharp setup.
