Wheel and Tire Size Sanity Check - Enkei PF01
Wheel and Tire Size Sanity Check - Enkei PF01
Took the Mustang out for it's first track day (road course) yesterday and had a blast, but as I knew would be the case, it's begging for new wheels tires, suspension, brakes.
Wheels and tires will most likely be the first thing to get changed.
I have the factory 19" rims with 245/45/19
I want to go to an 18" rim for handling, weight savings, and tire replacement costs.
I am looking at the Enkei PF01 in 18x9.5 +45 Offset and with a 275/40/18 tire.
Will this clear potential big brake kits and not have any kind of rubbing or clearance problems with the suspension / fenders once the car gets lowered?
I also like the RPF1 in 18x9.5 + 45 Offset, but can not find any information on whether this particular wheel will clear something like the brembo brakes in front? Feedback?

Check out older posts in the Vorshlag Blog (will take some time searching), they've done a lot of different wheel fitment testing, including Enkei RPF1's and PF01's. Generally speaking though, the PF01's have more room to fit over bigger brakes than the RPF1's do.
Those are a close second choice and am still considering them.
Lots of mixed reviews on TSW wheels, but I presume the Nurburgring are stronger from what I have gathered to find so far because they are rotary forged.
Leaning towards the Enkei now, but still looking...

TSW wheels are a bit heavier in general; the rotary-forged models (Nurburgring and Interlagos) are probably what you will consider and they are available in 18x9.5 at a proper offset. Vorshlag has 18x10 lightweight wheels at the upper end of "reasonably priced" category.
yup, the Nurburgring and Interlagos where the only TSW wheels I had been considering, and really it was just the nurburgring that I would lean towards.
Reading conflicting reports on their quality / softness on the street, but I suspect that applies mostly to the non rotary-forged wheels. Haven't read too much negative about the rotary-forged models.
The Vorshlag are something I would consider if I ever get a separate set just for track days, pretty impressive for 18x10.
