I am and have been reading but I remain unsure. 2014 GT with Brembo brakes.
Stock wheels and tires currently but the wife wants an upgrade.
The wheels she picked come in an 18 and 20.
What will fit - I prefer the staggered look with the 18s what tires will fit and give the best performance - daily driver
From what I have read so far it looks like I can get more tire with 18s but 20s will be the better look?
When people start throwing out spacers and offsets my eyes glaze over. I am concerned about rubbing but we havent done any lowering or suspension at all at this point. Pics will help but advice is wanted.

Do a search on the forums for this. Brembo brakes need 19's or bigger to clear. Even some 19's will not. Tire rack will let you know what will fit. Look at teh other peoples cars here and that will help. Good Luck took me a while to decide.

You have to be careful with 18's and the front Brembos. Most 18's will clear the caliper, although I think one or two people here have found some that will.

You're correct that 18" tires will provide more sidewall over 20" inch.. The question is how much more and if the difference is noticeable..

If your preference is 18" I would recommend going with no larger than 285/40/18's or 275/45/18 for the front.. If your preference is 20" I run 275/35/20"s both front and rear which clear perfectly.. Unfortunately I'm not really sure about which sizes will clear on the rear, as I don't run a staggered setup

Which wheels are you looking at?
With Brembos you need a specific design so the spokes will clear the calipers.
I've had 2 different styles of 18x9.5's on my '13 Track Pack, a set of 19x10's, and a set of 20x10's.
They all fit perfectly.
Offset is very important. It is the measurement from the center of the wheel to the mounting surface of the wheel
A Mustang needs something usually in the 35-45mm range for the front.

To give you a better idea about offset, imagine the same exact wheel available in the same bolt pattern and diameter/width, but 2 different offsets, say something like 40mm and 20mm choices.
The 40mm version will sit further inward by 20mm, compared to the 20mm version.
So a wheel roughly 9" wide with an offset of about 30-35mm should definitely fit a Brembo-equipped Mustang, unless the wheel is a deep-dish design where the spokes are set inward and the wheel has a lip.
If the same wheel has a spoke design that is pretty much flat or only concave a little, it should then fit no problem.

But again, which wheel (make, model, size, offset) are you looking at?

Good posting, but what you described as being "offset" was actually backspacing. Offset is how far off the mounting hub is from the centerline of the wheel. +0 offset = mounting hub is dead center in the middle of the rim. +15 = 15mm towards the wheel face, -15 = 15mm towards the inner lip.

Lol, I actually ready both of the above statements as the same thing.
When I wrote "mounting surface of the wheel" I meant where it mounts onto the car, the rotor or hub.
I did not mean the edge of the wheel .... the lip, ring, bead, or whatever else it might be called

Also, Tire Rack says "The offset of a wheel is the distance from its hub mounting surface to the centerline of the wheel"

All the 18's I've run clear the 4-piston Brembos with no problem. 19's are generally needed to clear the 6-piston Brembos for folks who upgraded to the 2013/2014 GT500 setup

Dam I will never listen to the famous wheel and tire store again... Sorry Guys they told me 18"s wont work. I should of known better.. LOL Thankx for the information.

Now I can get the Slicks I have been looking at..

You have to be careful with Brembos and 18 in wheels, some 18's will fit, but not all. A friend of mine put the 4 piston Brembos on his 2008 Bullitt. The stock Bullitt 18's only clear if you use spacers to move them out a little. His Ford Racing 18's fit fine without the spacers.

Hello there. I think the 20" is a best choice for the rims. Should be safe for caliper clearance of most mag spokes. I went with Foose Legend rims,and a different tire configuration then some. You never said tire size so this is my set up. I used 255 on the front and 275 on the back. They were cheaper, then given sizes and it gives the car a slight rake.I went with 35ZR but will replace with 40ZR next time. The car has little side wall and rides a bit too heavy. Great cornering but bumps hard.
